The prospect of voice acting has become more and more popular in recent years. The major question people seem to always ask is, “how do I even get into voice acting”. The reason this is such a hard question to answer is because there is no clear cut way to break into the industry. Many voice actors did some acting roles and ended up in the voice acting industry. There is also the case of ProZD, a viner that would make videos where he would do a gaggle of voices. After a few years he would end up voicing Fl4k, one of the main characters in Borderlands 3. Obviously you can see why most voice actors would just recommend that you find a niche way to get your foot into the door.
I am aspiring to get a mass communication degree so that I can get a job in the industry and then work my way into voice acting. The reason I tell you this is so that I can explain the second issue that arises with pursuing voice acting. The sad truth is that things don’t always work out and the voice acting industry is very competitive. I don’t say this to discourage you I just want to make sure y’all understand the challenges you will have to overcome in this industry. If you are still determined to aim for a voice acting job then my main recommendation is that you have a promising back up plan just in case things go sideways.
In summation, be determined to fight your way into the industry. Don’t be discouraged by losing a role to someone else. Find your own route towards voice acting. Make sure you have a backup plan if things don’t work out the way you want, and remember to enjoy your passion.
